1947 City of Toronto: Regional Plan—Fort York and Surrounding Area

Metropolitan-wide, regional planning for Toronto began to take shape on a systematic basis in the early 1940s. Methodical aerial coverage of the city was undertaken as part of this process, proving to be a valuable tool for analysis and discussion. The following images from the 1947 City of Toronto Regional Plan show the Fort in its post-Second World War context: cheek to cheek with the railways and industry, a state of affairs which waxed and waned over the next 50 years.
